Diocese of Algoma Launches Youth Social Justice Video Challenge 2026
The Diocese of Algoma Social Justice Committee is inviting youth and young adults across the Diocese to raise their voices through creativity, storytelling, and compassionate action with the launch of the Youth Social Justice Video Challenge 2026.
The initiative encourages participants to create short, original videos exploring social justice issues in their communities and around the world. Selected videos may be featured through diocesan communications channels, including the diocesan website and social media platforms.
The challenge is designed to give youth an opportunity to reflect on issues they care about deeply while using digital storytelling to inspire action and awareness.
Possible themes include:
· food insecurity
· homelessness and affordable housing
· mental health and belonging
· Indigenous reconciliation
· climate justice and caring for creation
· loneliness and isolation
· poverty and inequality
· kindness, compassion, and community care
Videos may include interviews, documentary-style storytelling, spoken word, music, visual art, reflections, dramatic presentations, or other original approaches.
“We want young people to know that their voices matter,” says Social Justice Committee member Sandy Drindak. “This challenge is about encouraging youth to speak honestly, creatively, and compassionately about the world around them and the kind of communities they hope to build.”
The submission deadline for the Youth Social Justice Video Challenge 2026 is September 15, 2026.
