Refugee Sunday in Algoma

Archbishop Anne Germond has designated August 23, 2026, as Refugee Sunday throughout the Diocese of Algoma. Responding to an invitation from the Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, congregations are encouraged to pray for displaced people, reflect on the Christian call to hospitality, and make use of worship and educational resources prepared by Alongside Hope and its Refugee Network.

Family Camp Returns to Camp Gitchigomee This August

Families from across the Thunder Bay–North Shore Deanery are invited to Family Camp at Camp Gitchigomee, August 14–16, 2026. Sponsored by Gathering Table, the weekend offers worship, outdoor adventures, campfires, crafts, and fellowship in a welcoming Christian community. Open to families of all ages, the camp is offered by donation to help ensure everyone can participate.

Peace and Presence

A new ecumenical initiative, Peace and Presence, is creating opportunities for people across the Muskoka Deanery to gather for contemplation, creativity, and spiritual conversation. Through online discussions, labyrinth walks, book studies, and a monthly community reflection project, participants are invited to explore faith, share their experiences, and discover moments where God's presence is encountered in everyday life.

A Joyful Welcome

The Diocese of Algoma is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev. Catherine Hazlitt as incumbent of St. John's, North Bay, St. Mary's, Powassan, and Holy Trinity, Temiscaming. Beginning September 1, 2026, Rev. Catherine will bring her gifts in pastoral care, preaching, and collaborative ministry to the Temiskaming Tri-Parish as the congregations begin a new chapter together in faith.
