The Diocese of Algoma Invites the Community to Celebrate 150 Years of Bishophurst During Doors Open Ontario
The Diocese of Algoma is pleased to once again participate in Doors Open Ontario, welcoming visitors to one of the city’s most significant heritage buildings—Bishophurst.
This year’s event will be especially meaningful as the Diocese celebrates the 150th Anniversary of Bishophurst, the historic home that has served generations of bishops and continues to play an important role in the life of the Diocese.
Visitors are invited to join the celebration on Saturday, September 26, 2026, for a day of history, hospitality, and family fun.
Guests will have the opportunity to explore Bishophurst through guided tours, learn about the building’s rich history, and discover its continuing role in the Diocese of Algoma
To mark this milestone, the Diocese has also launched a limited-edition commemorative Bishophurst 150th Anniversary T-shirt. The shirts are now available for pre-order and will be ready for pickup at the Doors Open event on September 26. Net proceeds will support the Anne Germond Legacy Fund, helping to strengthen ministry across the Diocese.
