Community Organizations Rally to Support Wildfire Evacuees
As the wildfire emergency continues across Northwestern Ontario, community organizations in and around Thunder Bay have mobilized to provide practical support for evacuees arriving from affected First Nations and remote communities. A helpful roundup published by Your Tri-Counties brings together verified information about where donations, volunteer support, and financial contributions are most urgently needed.
The article highlights the efforts of organizations including Mikinakoos Children’s Fund, Superior Inn, Thunder Bay Police Service, Northern Reach Rescue Network, and Nokiiwin Tribal Council, while also listing trusted organizations accepting financial donations, including the Canadian Red Cross, White Sand First Nation, the Salvation Army in Thunder Bay, and True North Aid.
“I am deeply grateful for the remarkable spirit of generosity being shown by communities across Northwestern Ontario and beyond,” said Archbishop Anne Germond. “In times of crisis, we see the very best of our neighbours. Indigenous leaders, emergency responders, churches, charities, businesses, and countless volunteers are coming together to offer hope, compassion, and practical care to those whose lives have been turned upside down by these devastating wildfires. Please keep all of these wonderful individuals, and the organizations they represent, in your prayers as they continue this vital work.”
