June Visit to Thunder Bay–North Shore
It was a full and grace-filled weekend in the Deanery of Thunder Bay–North Shore for Archbishop Anne Germond.
Beginning June 6, Archbishop Anne joined family, friends, clergy, and parishioners at St. James Anglican Cemetery in Thunder Bay for the interment of the late Canon Paul Carr. The gathering celebrated a life of faithful ministry and service, while offering an opportunity to reconnect with many whose lives were shaped by Canon Paul’s leadership and mentorship.
Later that day, Archbishop Anne and Canon Ed Swayze brought Holy Communion to Archdeacon Eric Paterson, sharing stories and memories from his years of ministry in the Diocese of Algoma.
On Sunday, the Archbishop presided at Holy Eucharist and Confirmation at St. Stephen the Martyr, Thunder Bay. Three young people—Ovie, Efe, and Ejiro—were confirmed in the faith. Following the confirmations, Archbishop Anne invited members of the congregation to renew their baptismal promises and receive prayer and the laying on of hands, creating what many described as a moving and Spirit-filled moment of worship.
From remembrance and pastoral visitation to celebration and new commitments of faith, the weekend reflected the many dimensions of episcopal ministry and the life of the Church across Algoma.
