Algoma Weekly News Children & Youth Edition

Call for Submissions for A New Quarterly Newsletter Showcasing Youth Ministry Across Algoma

The Diocese of Algoma is preparing to launch a new quarterly youth-focused edition of Anglican Weekly News: AWN Next Gen.

The goal is simple: to create a regular space where the stories, voices, ideas, and ministries shaping the next generation of the Church in Algoma can be gathered and shared across the diocese.

AWN Next Gen will draw together youth-related stories and ministries taking place throughout Algoma — helping us better recognize, celebrate, and learn from the work already happening in parishes, camps, schools, deaneries, and communities across the North.

Archbishop Anne Germond says the initiative is about helping the diocese pay closer attention to where young people are already leading, participating, serving, and encountering Christ.

“There is far more happening in youth ministry across Algoma than many people realize,” said Archbishop Anne. “AWN Next Gen will help us tell those stories, share ideas, celebrate young voices, and strengthen connections across the diocese. We want young people to know that they are not simply the future of the Church — they are an important part of the Church today.”

The quarterly edition will feature a wide range of content, including:

· profiles of parish youth ministry initiatives

· stories and reflections from Algoma’s summer camps

· youth voices and firsthand experiences

· submissions from young writers, musicians, leaders, and volunteers

· reflections from clergy and lay leaders engaged in youth ministry

· diocesan, provincial and national youth initiatives and events

· practical resources, ideas, and best practices from across the Anglican Church

We hope AWN Next Gen will become a place where ideas can be shared, relationships strengthened, and momentum built around youth ministry in every part of the diocese.

We are especially interested in hearing directly from young people themselves. Whether it is a testimony, reflection, photo essay, interview, creative piece, ministry story, or simply an account of something meaningful happening in your parish or community, we would love to help share those voices.

Deaneries, parishes, camps, and ministry leaders are also invited to submit brief updates and stories about youth-focused events, outreach, leadership development, music ministry, service projects, pilgrimages, camp experiences, and other initiatives.

Anyone interested in submitting content, ideas, photos, reflections, or ministry stories for AWN Next Gen is invited to contact the diocesan communications office at communications@dioceseofalgoma.com.
