The Diocese of Algoma will open its 2026 Clergy Conference with a Eucharist at St. Luke’s Cathedral on Monday, May 4 at 7:00 p.m., and all are warmly invited to attend.
The service marks the beginning of the diocese’s annual gathering of clergy from across Algoma. While the conference itself is a time of shared learning, reflection, and fellowship among clergy, the Opening Eucharist offers an opportunity for the wider diocesan community to gather in worship at the outset of this important time.
The preacher for the service will be The Right Reverend Dr. Susan Bell, Bishop of Niagara, whose presence is a central part of this year’s conference.
Bishop Susan’s conference theme, “Faithful Christian Living in Difficult Times,” speaks directly to the realities facing the Church today. As Archbishop Anne Germond noted in her invitation to clergy, this theme “speaks directly into the moment we are inhabiting.” She expressed her hope that Bishop Susan’s words will “both comfort and strengthen us—not inviting us to withdraw, but to step up and step out, to see where God is already at work in the margins of our communities, and to join in.”
The conference itself is shaped by a broader theme, “Rooted and Grounded in Christ,” drawing the diocese into deeper reflection on how the Church remains steadfast and responsive in a time of challenge and change.
The Opening Eucharist will be presided over by Archbishop Anne Germond, with Bishop Susan Bell preaching.
All are welcome to attend.
