Creating Space for Compassionate Dialogue
The congregation of St. Stephen the Martyr Anglican Church, Thunder Bay, is inviting members of the community to a thoughtful and compassionate discussion titled “A Conversation about MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying)” on Wednesday, October 29 at 7:00 p.m.
The evening will be facilitated by the Rev’d Barb Fugelsang, retired chaplain from St. Joseph’s Hospital, and the Rev’d Canon Ed Swayze, and will take place at St. Stephen the Martyr Anglican Church, 494 Leslie Avenue.
This session is intended to provide a safe and open opportunity for conversation about Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), a topic that continues to touch the lives of many individuals and families. The facilitators emphasize that the Church is not taking a position either for or against MAiD, recognizing that this is a deeply personal decision.
All are welcome to attend, including:
- Those who would like to learn more about MAiD
- Those who are considering MAiD for themselves or a loved one
- Those who are offering spiritual or religious care to people facing this decision
The goal of the evening is to create a space for listening, understanding, and respectful conversation within a pastoral and faith-informed setting.
