A Joyful Return at Trinity, Parry Sound
This past February, Trinity Anglican Church in Parry Sound experienced a break-in and theft that left the congregation heartbroken. Among the stolen items was a collection of silver artifacts—some dating back to 1876—irreplaceable pieces of the parish’s sacred history.
Today, we are grateful to share some good news: most of those historical items have been recovered and returned to Trinity. Thanks to the diligent efforts of the Ontario Provincial Police, the chalice, silver plates, and alms basin are now safely back in the church’s care.
While the paten, candlestick, and host box remain missing, the return of these treasured vessels has brought renewed hope. Though the items bear the marks of their journey—scratches, wear, and signs of mishandling—these too become part of Trinity’s ongoing story: a testimony to resilience, prayer, and the enduring grace of community.
In the days following the theft, the parish shared this prayerful hope: “We pray that these items will be returned to the church and that the persons responsible realize there is a better path in life.” That spirit of grace continues to guide the people of Trinity as they look toward healing and restoration.
We join them in offering thanks to the OPP and to all who supported the search. And we continue to hope for the safe return of the remaining pieces—sacred vessels that hold deep meaning not only for this parish, but for the generations of faithful who have gathered at Trinity since 1876.
