On Saturday, June 7, a team of volunteers gathered to pack a record-breaking 130 backpacks filled with essential items for those experiencing homelessness. From toothbrushes and toothpaste to emergency blankets and socks, the backpacks were thoughtfully assembled to offer both comfort and dignity.

This year’s campaign saw support from many corners of the North Bay community, including familiar faces from St. John’s Anglican Church, North Bay, whose members contributed generously. Children added handmade cards, while others donated much-needed supplies, showing how people of all ages can come together to make a difference.

The campaign is the work of the Compassionate Committee for the Homeless, a grassroots group whose impact continues to grow through the simple but profound act of caring.

We give thanks for the churches and community members whose compassion is helping to meet immediate needs—and whose witness to Christ’s love is felt in backpacks, ball caps, and balm. May this beautiful act of kindness inspire others across our Diocese to see and serve our neighbours in need.
