“Carried Away by Wind and Flame” — A Reflection from +Anne Germond

Over the past year, Anglicans in Algoma have generously made space for their bishop to serve the wider Church, as +Anne Germond has taken on the additional responsibilities of Acting Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada. In doing so, this diocese has quietly supported a ministry of national significance, enabling +Anne’s voice and leadership to be shared across the country during a time of profound discernment.

In her latest Anglican Journal column, +Anne reflects on the mystery and movement of the Holy Spirit through the lens of Pentecost. It’s a deeply personal meditation—rooted in Scripture, shaped by her own experience, and offered to the whole Church from someone whose heart remains firmly anchored in Algoma.

“There are seasons in our lives when we are carried along by the Spirit’s breath—lifted up, emboldened, and perhaps even surprised by the direction in which we are moved.”
— +Anne Germond, Anglican Journal, May 2025

We invite you to read and reflect on this beautiful piece, knowing that her ministry on the national stage continues to be grounded in the faith, generosity, and resilience of the people she serves here at home.
