An Invitation to Join the Global Wave of Prayer: Thy Kingdom Come 2025

Dear friends in Christ,

In the final words of my Charge to Synod, I extended this invitation:

“Between Ascension Day and Pentecost Sunday, the Church throughout the world is being invited to join in the 10th anniversary of the ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ initiative—to pray that more people will come to know Jesus. Won’t you join me in praying for five people every day?”

Today, I offer that invitation again—from my heart to yours.

From May 29 to June 8, Christians from over 85 denominations, in more than 170 countries, will join in a global wave of prayer—a movement that began in 2016 as a call to prayer from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, and has since grown to span the globe.

At its heart, Thy Kingdom Come is a simple, Spirit-led invitation:

To pray—intentionally, lovingly, and faithfully—for five people in your life to come to know the transforming love of Jesus Christ.

A Pattern for Prayer

This year’s Thy Kingdom Come resources are centred on The Lord’s Prayer—the prayer that Jesus gave to the Church. It is a prayer of trust and surrender. A prayer for daily bread and for deliverance. A prayer for a world made whole.

Each day between Ascension and Pentecost, we will share brief reflections from the Thy Kingdom Come Prayer Journal on the Diocese of Algoma Facebook page. I invite you to check in daily and let these short reflections anchor your day in prayer.

A Call from the Wells of Salvation

In my Charge, I spoke of the need to “draw deeply from the wells of salvation.” This season of prayer gives us a way to do that—together. In a time of uncertainty and fatigue, it is an invitation to return to the source of our hope. To renew our life in Christ. To remember who and whose we are.

I hope you will join me. Let us pray, not just for ourselves, but for those whose names we will lift up, one by one, day by day.

Thy kingdom come. On earth, and in Algoma, as it is in heaven.

Faithfully,
+Anne: Algoma
