Appointment of Dr. Dean Jobin-Bevans as the Incumbent of St. Paul’s Thunder Bay
Archbishop Anne is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Dean Jobin-Bevans to be the incumbent of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Thunder Bay, effective September 1st, 2025.
Dean is a postulant for ordination in the Diocese of Algoma and is presently serving on placement at St. Thomas’s Anglican Church in Bracebridge, Muskoka. He is also the Rector’s warden at St. James Anglican Church, Orillia. During the summer of 2024 Dean was the summer student minister at St. Christopher’s Anglican Church, McGregor Bay.
God-willing, Dean will be ordained to the sacred order of deacons at the celebration of Holy Eucharist at St. Luke’s Cathedral on May 7th 2025, with Archdeacon Deborah Kraft preaching.
Dean is no stranger to St. Paul’s having served as the Director of Music between 2010 and 2014. He has a special affection for St. Paul’s where he has ‘witnessed a deep commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ through strong connection to the surrounding neighbourhood and the diverse members of the community at large’. He is looking forward to supporting the many volunteer ministries at St. Paul’s and to continue building relationships with indigenous siblings in the parish through active listening, compassion, empathy, and the promotion of mutual exchange fostered by a common faith.
Dean holds a Doctor of Music (2008) from McGill University. He is committed to ongoing theological education and formation and will be spending time in Cambridge, UK next spring undertaking further studies.
From 2017 to 2022 Dean served as the Principal at Lakehead University Orillia Campus and is currently the Executive Lead for Lakehead University at the Georgian Campus.
Archbishop Anne extends thanks to the Rev. Gordon Holroyd and the Rev. Nancy Ringham for their caring leadership in the parish, to Deacon Ann Carr for her ongoing pastoral care and support of parishioners, and to the diocesan and parochial lay readers who offered their ministry of preaching and liturgical leadership.
Thanks are also due to the devoted wardens and lay leaders whose faithfulness and dedication have ensured the smooth running of the parish on a day-to- day basis. Thanks also to Archdeacon Deborah for her oversight and guidance.
Let us pray for Dean as he prepares to move from Orillia to Thunder Bay over the summer months to assume the incumbency at St. Paul’s.
