2020 is the 150th anniversary of St. Luke’s Cathedral. In 1870 on July 22 the cornerstone was laid for the first Anglican church in Sault Ste. Marie and on October 18 that same year St. Luke’s Parish Church was consecrated, later to become a Cathedral. This date has been used as our anniversary ever since.

Dean Jim McShane, St. Luke’s Wardens Cheryl Linklater Halverson, Bob MacDougall, Penny Tyrrel, with the support of the Advisory Board, are planning events throughout this year which will culminate in a formal dinner to be held on the evening of Sunday, October 18, 2020, at Grand Gardens North. On that morning, we will be celebrating 150 years of worship in St. Luke’s Cathedral.

Mr. Justice Michael Varpio, Master of Ceremonies and Keynote Speaker, will prepare us for an evening of celebration. There will be an antipasto bar and a five-course dinner shared with family and friends of St. Luke’s Cathedral.

Details of other celebratory events, to be held during the year, will be announced as they are confirmed.
