St. John the Evangelist, Biscotasing

St. John the Evangelist, Biscotasing is a summer parish in the Village of Biscotasing, north of Sudbury. The population in this village explodes from about 16 over the winter to 150 or so in the summer. St. John's, though an Anglican presence in the community, serves the whole community with it's various mix of denominations.

Biscotasing survives on the CPR rail line running along the watershed north to Chapleau and points west. A variety of camping, hunting and fishing opportunities bring in tourists from all over north America for this Canadian adventure location. Bisco was home base to the infamous Grey Owl, who resided here for about 14 years of his interesting career.

Pastoral Ministry is provided by a supervised student minister from June through to the Labour Day weekend in September. Accommodation is provided in the well appointed cabin attached to the church.  Services are weekly at 10:30am, with Eucharist provided as priests are available from other points in the Diocese.
