Condolences to Archdeacon Perry Chuipka

We were sorry to receive the news of the death of Lorne Chuipka, father of The Venerable Perry Chuipka. Perry served 20 years as a priest in the Diocese of Algoma. The following obituary comes from the Sudbury Star.

CHUIPKA, Lorne - In Loving Memory of Lorne N. Chuipka, 81 years who passed away peacefully in his home after Church, Sunday, January 17, 2016. Born in 1934 in Garland, Manitoba, he came to Sudbury with his parents at an early age. Lorne was a Sudbury Regional Police Officer for 33 years who was involved in police community services. He served as a Director of the Police Museum, Sudbury Police Pensioners Association and Chair of the Sick and Visiting. Lorne was an active member of many volunteer organizations receiving numerous awards including the Queen's Jubilee Medal. He was an active Mason and Shriner being a past Patron of the Algoma Chapter 139, Eastern Star. Lorne was greatly involved with All People's United Church acting as Board Chair and caretaker. He loved and enjoyed the fellowship of serving tea and coffee after each church service. An avid hunter and outdoorsman right into his seventies who loved to curl with his police buddies and spending time at his cottage on McGregor Bay. In his last few years he enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Java Guild and YMCA. Predeceased by his parents Mike and Victoria (Rochenko) Chuipka. Beloved husband of Marlene Chuipka (née Dempsey). Loving father of five children, Brian (Sharon) of Barrie, Susan Basto of Sudbury, Rev. Perry (Lori) of Kitchener, David (Sue) of St. Joseph's Island and Rick (Carol) of Kanata. Cherished grandfather of Mathew (Heather), Melissa, Kristy McDonald (TJ), Kevin, Chris, Adam, Noah, Noel, Peter, Sydney, Serina and proud great-grandfather of Jacob, Aiden and Aubrey McDonald. Predeceased by his siblings Ernie and Vivian Szeryk (Mike) of Kitchener. Memorial Visitation will be held at All People's United Church, 400 Antwerp Ave, Sudbury on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Eastern Star and Masonic Services to follow. A Celebration of Lorne's Life will be held at All People's United Church on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to RANGER'S CREMATION AND BURIAL SERVICES LTD .
