Bishop Mwita has sent pictures of the early stages of the construction of 'Betty's House'. He reports that the building will have space for two classrooms, an office, a small store, and a small kitchen and a toilet. The project, which is designed to teach young girls how to sew, is a tangible demonstration of the Diocese's committment to 'poverty alleviation, gender equality and women’s rights, fighting outdated cultural practices such as female genital mutilation, and women's empowerment through savings and credit schemes'. The Diocese of Algoma has recently sent $2,000 in support of this project. Bishop Mwita thanks us for our generosity.
