Parish of West Thunder Bay loses their incumbent

Posted: Feb 24, 2014

On Sunday, 23 February 2014, The Rev. Nancy Ringham announced her resignation as Incumbent of the Parish of West Thunder Bay, effective 31 May. She will be taking up a position as Associate Pastor at Hilldale Lutheran Church in Thunder Bay beginning 1 June. Hilldale is a congregation in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, a denomination with which the Anglican Church in Canada is in full communion. Nancy’s chief responsibilities will be with the English congregation, and she will be serving with Senior Pastor, Jari Lahtinen.

Ordained to the diaconate in 2003 and the priesthood in 2004, Nancy was involved in the Children’s Aid Societies in Huntsville and Thunder Bay before heeding a call to ordination. Her call became clear through extensive service in the church in a lay capacity. She was an Adult Coordinator for youth ministry in Muskoka and Thunder Bay (1996-2003), and was the Youth Ministry Facilitator and Program Associate for Thunder Bay (2001-2004). For a year (2003-2004) she was Deacon Associate at St Michael & All Angels’, Thunder Bay, and then spent a subsequent year as Priest Associate, splitting her time between St Michael & All Angels’ and St Luke’s. In 2005 she took up the Incumbency of the Parish of West Thunder Bay, which includes the congregations of St James’, Murillo and St Mark’s, Rosslyn.

While we will be sad to lose Nancy’s gifts to the diocese, we are happy that she will use them in a part of the Lord’s vineyard that is still in the diocese! We wish her and Bill God’s blessing as they prepare for this transition, and we uphold the Parish of West Thunder Bay in our prayers as they look for new leadership.
