Bishop Stephen Andrews has announced the appointment of The Rev. Joan Locke as the Incumbent of the Parish of St Mary’s, Powassan, St Peter’s, Callander, St Alban’s, Restoule, and St John’s, Chisholm, effective 20 October 2013. She has been serving the congregations of St John’s, Schreiber and Trinity Church, Marathon, since 2008 as Associate Minister and Incumbent.
Prior to ordination, Joan worked in the health and safety sector. She was involved in lay ministry in the Parish of Northern Lights and the Deanery of Temiskaming where she was particularly active in Cursillo. She has provided leadership in all three of our diocesan camps. Joan served summer placements for two consecutive years at St Christopher’s, McGregor Bay (2006 and 2007).
Joan holds a BA in Geography from Laurentian University and lived at Thorneloe College. She has her Master of Divinity degree from Wycliffe College, Toronto. Made a Deacon in 2008, she was ordained to the Priesthood in 2009. Her last Sunday in Schreiber and Marathon will be Thanksgiving Sunday (13 October 2013).
